Understanding Microdermabrasion

Exfoliation is a process that encourages the skin cells in the upper layers of your skin to turn over, or otherwise produce new and healthy cells. This process also stimulates new collagen production in the deeper layers of the skin. This helps to slightly thicken and tighten the facial skin, thus reducing the appearance of fine lines associated with skin aging.

If you have significant skin aging or you have been unsatisfied with the results you’ve gotten from retinol and Retin-A products, then you might be the perfect candidate for a microdermabrasion procedure.

The procedure uses a small glass tube lined with fine aluminum oxide crystals. A gentle amount of suction is applied to the tube causing the skin on your face or hands to be pulled into contact with the crystals. This helps to remove aging or dead skin cells, sun spots, fine wrinkles and lines and stimulates the growth of new healthy cells in the dermis.

Microdermabrasion can also help to reduce and manage minor moderate acne issues, improve skin texture and actually reduce the size of your pores.
