Nasal reconstruction is a surgical procedure that repairs deformities in the nose due to trauma, cancer, and malformed or missing nasal anatomy. Nasal reconstruction is most often performed after nasal injuries. Dr. Oliver P. Simmons may recommend nasal reconstruction in Lexington, South Carolina, if you have:
- Nasal deformities due to fracture or other injuries
- Nasal deformities due to skin cancer removal
Nasal reconstruction is performed by our plastic surgeon on an outpatient basis. You will be administered either local or general anesthesia. The skin of the nose will be lifted so that Dr. Oliver P. Simmons can remove or rearrange the bone and cartilage. This will reshape and repair damage in the nose. After the nose has been reshaped, the skin is redraped and stitched back over the nose. A nasal splint, which will be removed after a week, is placed on the outside of the nose to help it retain its shape during healing. The incisions from this procedure can usually all be hidden inside the nose.
This procedure will not only improve your appearance, it will improve your breathing. Congenital and acquired deformities alike can be corrected. Contact Simmons Plastic Surgery today for more information about nasal reconstruction and to schedule a consultation.
