Getting a Nose Job

Deformations in the nose caused by genetics, aging or injury can have a serious negative impact on the function and appearance of your nose. In some situations, this can even make it hard to breathe through your nose. A rhinoplasty procedure, more commonly as a nose job can help correct these problems for better breathing and a symmetrical nose.

There are two different types of nose jobs. Which one your surgeon recommends will vary depending on a number of different factors.

Closed rhinoplasty involves the surgeon making incisions through the nostrils. The tissues of the nose are then altered and the skin settles back into the nose’s new shape without any visible scarring.

Open rhinoplasty involves the surgeon making incisions on the exterior of the nose. They can then adjust the shape of each nostril or amend the general structure of the nose. The surgeon tries to make the incisions in natural creases or areas of the nose that will not leave visible scarring.
